11:30 AM
After pacing and humming for about 1/2 hour finally there was something showing!

First came his nose and shortly after came his front feet! Once his nose appeared it didn't take long for the rest!

As soon as the baby was out, the mom and other curious alpacas quickly smelled the newborn and welcomed it to the herd!

Within seconds Houston was trying to sit up.

Alpacas sometimes lick off their newborn's nose and mouth to make sure they can breathe.

Soon he will be able to hold up his head on his own and sit upright. Wanda stayed right next to him as he got stronger by the second.

Mom and baby got acquainted with their first kiss! How sweet!

After about 10-15 minutes Houston was trying to stand on his own! This is amazing to watch!

It's funny how they try to suck... even before they can stand sometimes!

After fumbling, Houston needs a rest! But he won't give up till he has succeeded in standing and sucking!

As you can see the crias are very curious and usually don't mind coming right up to you. He actually gave me a kiss too!

Ahhh This is the life!
When crias sleep they are so cute!

Soon Wanda was up and grazing... she was very hungry and thirsty so making sure she had access to food and water was vital!

And at last Houston got  to eat too!
